As a teacher, it’s important to recognise and accept everyone in the room, not just the loud kids in the front row. Each term, we make an effort to learn everyone’s names and get to know and understand the different personalities. We also try to make time to connect at the beginning of each class; we’ll ask what everyone has been up to that week. You can break down a lot of walls this way. Every now and then, at the end of class, we leave time to play a fun dance-related game, so class ends on a high.

The years we’ve put into dance, and the experiences we’ve had, have given us so much knowledge to share with our students. And because we know how many amazing (and fun) opportunities can come from being a good dancer, we are passionate teachers. A teacher creates the vibe in the room; a good teacher can make class fun and inspire you at the same time.

Trust that whatever the teacher has to say will make you a better dancer in some way.
